Delay Sought for Project Review

Share

The Moorpark City Council will ask county officials to delay considering parts of the Hidden Creek development plan until after council members have decided the massive project’s fate.

The council voted Wednesday to send a letter to the Board of Supervisors asking that the county hold off on its review of parts of the proposal, which would bring 3,221 new residences to Moorpark and possibly add more than 10,000 residents.

The project’s developer, Messenger Investment Co., has asked the county to approve several proposed roads through the 4,300-acre project. But Moorpark council members said they want to vote on Hidden Creek before the county takes action.

“There was a concern over the perception of putting the cart before the horse,” Councilman Bernardo Perez said Thursday.

“This project is big enough and confusing enough by itself without it going in two directions at once,” Councilman John Wozniak said.

The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to discuss the project Tuesday
