AST Introduces Ascentia Notebook PCs

Share

AST Research Inc. unveiled two new notebook computer models Monday as part of what company officials say is a concerted effort to bring technologically up-to-date products to market quickly.

The Ascentia notebooks, aimed at mid-range to high-performance markets, come equipped with Pentium processors made by Intel, and range in price from $2,500 to $4,000.

“AST’s strategic alliance with Samsung and our strong relationships with Intel and other vendors have allowed us to position ourselves in the forefront of the pack,” said AST Chief Executive Ian Diery. In recent years, AST has lost money and market share amid criticism that the company was often slow to roll out new products.
