StarBase Corp. made broad changes in its executive ranks Monday as the company prepares for the growth it expects to follow the recent launch of a new software program.

The Irvine-based company added five members to its board of directors, bringing the total to eight, and announced it has hired a new chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

The new management team “will provide the operational, financial and industry experience StarBase will need,” said William R. Stow III, chief executive.

Alan M. Davis was named chief operating officer and Robert W. Leimena was hired as chief financial officer, filling a position vacated in June by the resignation of John Laskey.

The new board members include Davis, Ken Sexton of Intersolv, Gary Gratny of Whelan & Gratny Capital Management Inc., Roger Ferguson, chief executive of DataTools Inc., and Phillip E. Pearce, formerly of E.F. Hutton & Co.

After raising $4.5 million in a private stock offering last month, StarBase released a new product two weeks ago that is designed to help software developers work together and share comments among one another while writing new programs.
