AIDS Services Foundation/Orange County has received a $42,500 donation from the estate of actress and entertainer Martha Raye, according to the Irvine-based service organization.

The money will be used to provide direct services to Orange County residents with AIDS, officials said.

Raye, who died in 1994, left much of her estate to charitable organizations throughout the country, officials said.

“It is a reflection of the same generosity which came through during her many USO tours during World War II, Korea and Vietnam,” Al Roberts, the organization’s board president, said in a statement.

The foundation is a nonprofit agency that provides services--including counseling, housing, transportation, food and home care--to people with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Officials also announced plans to host Snow Camp ’96 on March 1-3, a weekend of winter activities for Orange County youngsters 10 to 17 years old who are foundation clients or whose family members are current or past clients.

The free event will be at Camp Wilderness in Running Springs in the San Bernardino Mountains. For an application, call (714) 253-1519. Applications must be returned by Feb. 16.
