District Plans Parade to Mark Its 100th Year
The La Habra City School District will mark its 100th anniversary March 30 with a parade and celebration.
About 1,000 teachers, students and parents are expected to participate in the parade, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Walnut Elementary School and end at Washington Middle School.
School district officials said six antique cars also will be part of the parade, which will feature some of the district’s oldest living graduates.
City Council members last week approved prohibiting parking and closing streets and alleys along the parade route on the morning of the event.
After the parade, the district will host a fair, complete with games, food and crafts booths, at Washington Middle School, which at 100 is the district’s oldest campus.
Celebration organizer Martha Baxendell said she still is looking for the oldest graduate to serve as grand marshal of the parade and is seeking old photographs and other memorabilia to display at the fair.
“The older, the better,” she said.
