WORSE LUCK: In Azusa, City Redevelopment Director Steve Cervantes fared less well. The City Council fired him late Monday in the wake of a costly, failed relocation of a car dealership.
“We decided to terminate him because we lacked confidence in him,” said Mayor Stephen Alexander. Alexander cited an overall loss of confidence rather than the one sour deal for the decision. In 1994, Azusa spent $2.1 million to buy and develop a site for Mission Chrysler Jeep in the city, only to see the dealership return to its previous West Covina location last month.
