DAMASCUS, Syria —
Israel and Syria will resume peace talks Feb. 26 at secluded Wye Plantation in Maryland, Secretary of State Warren Christopher announced Tuesday.
He told a news conference after daylong meetings in Damascus that Syrian President Hafez Assad had agreed that the negotiations should proceed regardless of whether Israel calls early elections, as expected.
The two sides held 12 days of talks at Wye in December and January.
