Sign Change Requests Delayed for Reworking

Requests by two companies to change their outdoor signs were delayed by the Planning Commission this week.

Commissioners said that further work is needed on a sign request by Trabuco Hills Professional Center, 27725 Santa Margarita Parkway.

Most of the building is leased by medical professionals, and owner Mission Viejo Co. had requested permission to erect a sign listing the 10 medical services available.

Commissioners said they thought that such the sign is unnecessary but said they would not be opposed to adding a notice that urgent care is available.

They directed the property owner to rework its proposal.

The other request came from the Unocal gas station at 27271 Trabuco Road, which is asking for signs that include the company’s new logo.

Though commissioners had no objections to that proposal, they pointed out that another logo on a rear wall facing the street is too large.

Action on the logo request was postponed to give the company a chance to consider changing the painted wall sign.

The sign application of a third firm, Animal and Bird Clinic, under construction at 24912 Chrisanta Drive, won approval.

The clinic is expected to open in May.
