HUNTINGTON BEACH — An explosion at a Southern California Edison substation left about 40,000 residents from Huntington Harbour to Sunset Beach without electricity Wednesday night.
Denise Coe, spokeswoman for the utility, said the outage, which began at 7:20 p.m., lasted about 15 minutes.
Damage to the unstaffed substation at 15971 Graham St. was minor and there were no injuries, Coe said.
“It didn’t take us long to restore power, but we apologize for the inconvenience,” she added.
Huntington Beach police and fire officials said there were no incidents as a result of the outage. The blackout affected much of the city’s northwestern area.
