Central Los Angeles : ART SHOW

The walkways of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza are filled with arts and crafts reflecting the culture of the African diaspora through this weekend as part of the celebration of Black History Month.

The art show, representing more than 100 artists from Los Angeles and throughout the United States, is free and open during mall hours. Most of the artwork is for sale.

The art show began Tuesday night, along with the commencement of a Pan-African film festival at the Magic Johnson Theatres, which are next to the mall. The art show ends Sunday.

“I really like that [the show] is in the community,” said Wanda Knight, a Los Angeles-based collage artist.

Frank Frazier, an artist from Dallas who says his art is inspired by his stays in West Africa, added: “I like being here. The people here are concerned about the African American movement.” . . .
