Arguments Delayed in Bolsa Chica Suit

Share

Arguments scheduled for today in a lawsuit stemming from proposed housing development in the Bolsa Chica wetlands area have been delayed until Feb. 16.

Critics of the housing project filed the lawsuit last year after the County Board of Supervisors approved a plan for 3,300 homes on and around the wetlands that adjoin Huntington Beach.

The lawsuit alleges that the county failed to address adequately in an environmental impact report the project’s likely effects. Plaintiffs in the lawsuit are the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, city of Seal Beach, Gabrielino Shoshone Nation, Huntington Beach Tomorrow and the Sierra Club.

The case initially was to be heard last Friday in Superior Court in Santa Ana, along with a similar lawsuit by the Huntington Beach Union High School and Huntington Beach City school districts. A new hearing date in the school districts’ case has not been set.
