Library Foundation to Buy 2.4-Acre Site
A library fund-raising organization plans to buy a 2.4-acre lot in north Fullerton and eventually build a library.
The Fullerton Library Foundation, which was formed in 1994 to raise money for capital projects, will pay $250,000 for the vacant lot on the north side of Bastanchury Road from Puente Street to Brea Boulevard.
Unocal’s sale of the land to the foundation was a condition of the city’s recent approval of the company’s development project in northeast Fullerton.
In the past six months, the foundation raised more than $120,000 for purchase, Development Services Director F. Paul Dudley said. And on Tuesday, the council agreed to guarantee a bank loan.
Dudley said he expects that the foundation plans to build a library on the site after it pays off that loan.
