From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Jury selection was completed in the trial of John C. Salvi III, accused of murdering two young women in shootings at two abortion clinics more than a year ago. Salvi, 23, who faces two charges of first-degree murder, sat impassively in the Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham, Mass., as selection of the panel of 12 jurors and four alternates was completed on the fifth day of the trial. The jurors and alternates--nine women and seven men ranging in age between their 20s and 70s--were chosen from a pool of 52 after they had been polled about their views on abortion, religion and the insanity defense.
