Delicatessen (Bravo Monday at 5 and 11 p.m.), a 1991 French film, is a nightmare comedy with a childlike center of gravity set in a bleak future: a post-apocalypse French city where meat-eaters prey on one another and vegetarians are guerrillas hiding out in thesewers. It’s a clownishly macabre film, set in a Polanski-ish decaying hotel.

84 Charing Cross Road (Disney early Friday at 1 a.m.) is a joyous 1987 celebration of the life of the imagination. It dramatizes how books enrich our lives and build bridges between people. Anne Bancroft, as writer Helene Hanff, who, despairing of finding in Manhattan bookstores certain books she cherishes, discovers a fellow book lover (Anthony Hopkins) when she writes to a London bookstore in 1949, thus commencing an extraordinary epistolary relationship.
