Planners Approve Church Sanctuary
A new church sanctuary building, its roof curved like the hull of an old wooden ship, is expected to soon appear on Conejo School Road in Thousand Oaks.
The city’s Planning Commission on Monday unanimously approved plans by the First Church of Christ, Scientist to create a new sanctuary auditorium next to its current building near the intersection of Conejo School Road and Hillcrest Drive.
The decision is not expected to be appealed to the City Council.
The new, 4,752-square-foot building will seat about 170 people. With it, the church will be able to expand its child-care area and Sunday school inside the older building.
