Authorities arrested six suspected gang members in Ventura and San Diego on Thursday in connection with a rumble in Ventura in December that sent five people to the hospital.

Ventura residents Timothy Cass, 23, and Brian Glasspoole, 18, were booked into Ventura County Jail, where each is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Travis Walters, 21, was arrested in San Diego and will be transported to Ventura County Jail, where he will also be held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Authorities also picked up three juveniles in the simultaneous arrests, which began at 7 a.m. Police have charged all six suspected gang members with conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon. The three minors are being held in juvenile hall.

The arrests stem from a melee Dec. 1 that police said erupted when the six suspected gang members and their associates crashed a house party thrown by a rival Ventura gang at 254 Dana Point. Police said Thursday they have closed this case by arresting not only those who wielded weapons, but also those who created the incident by crashing the party.

“Often we do just get to arrest the people who use the weapons,” said Sgt. Gary McCaskill of the Ventura Police Department. “It is not OK for a group of people to conspire to crash a party. In this case, we were able . . . to go back and arrest everybody who was responsible for this incident.”

The Police Department conducted the arrests together with the Ventura County district attorney’s office and the Ventura County Probation Department.

During the December scuffle, one party-goer was stabbed in the chest and one was stabbed in the arm, police said. Two others were hit in the head with a crowbar, according to police reports.

Police said Cass spent time in a coma after he was hit over the head with a stool and kicked and beaten. Police said they have made four other arrests in the assault on Cass, who has since recovered.
