Storm Is Expected to Drop 2 Inches of Rain by Thursday

Presidents Day in Orange County should be a wet one.

Forecasters said scattered showers are expected today through Thursday.

“The storm itself isn’t terribly strong, but by the time it ends, it could drop up to 2 inches of rain or more,” said Curtis Brack, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides weather forecasts for The Times.

Brack said there is a 40% chance of rain this morning, growing to 80% by evening. Temperatures will hover in the 60s with lows in the 50s, he said.

Orange County will probably escape large downpours that are expected to fall in Santa Barbara and Northern California.

“It’s not looking too bad for Orange County,” Brack said.

For the season so far, Orange County has received only about 4 inches of rain--about half of normal, he said.

Brack said the storm that will hit Orange County is coming from Hawaii.

It will park itself along the coasts of California and the Pacific Northwest for several days, he said.
