Westside : LINCOLN PLACE
The Los Angeles City Council rejected a controversial redevelopment plan Tuesday to convert Lincoln Place in Venice from a mostly low-income housing project to condominiums.
It was the council’s second vote on the plan, and its decision was the same as the previous vote.
Superior Court Judge Hiroshi Fujisaki ordered the City Council to vote again on the matter after Lincoln Place’s developer sued the city and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter for allegedly violating the state’s open meetings law. The developer, Transaction Cos. Ltd., sued because Galanter sat in on a closed Planning and Land Use Management Committee meeting to discuss redeveloping Lincoln Place. Galanter is not a member of the committee.
