Breast-Feeding

Share

In response to California Dateline (Feb. 16) regarding Assembly Speaker Curt Pringle’s creation of the new room in the state Capitol for women to breast-feed or pump their breast milk:

I and the many proponents of last year’s legislation to affirm a woman’s right to breast-feed in public still believe that breast-feeding can and should be done anywhere--not behind closed doors. Pumping breast milk is another matter, so I agree with Speaker Pringle’s action. This takes a huge weight off the shoulders of mothers of newborns who wish to return to work and continue breast-feeding.

Wouldn’t it be something if other California employers followed suit and set up similar facilities in their workplaces? In this way, they could recognize breast-feeding as the best possible choice for children and make it easier for their employees to choose that option. Perhaps the state Assembly will start a trend!
