Agoura Hills : City Strengthens Ties to Local Businesses

Share

Saying it wants to foster good relations with the city’s business community, Agoura Hills has established a recognition program for new businesses.

The first businesses to be recognized, State Farm Insurance, Wood Ranch Barbecue and KS Jewelers, were honored at a ceremony this week at City Hall.

“We recognize that these people are coming here and making a contribution,” said Mayor Ed Corridori.

Corridori, a businessman who also sits on the city’s economic development committee, said the city is trying to revitalize the local economy, in part by attracting new business.

Brandy Paterak-MacCavic, president of the Agoura Chamber of Commerce, hailed the program, saying it will improve the city’s relations with the business community.

The city has been battling an image of being anti-business, which some in the business community say the city does not deserve.

“I have never felt the city was anti-business,” said Paterak-MacCavic. “Unfortunately, there is a minority of people who foster this negative image.”
