Big Inning Helps the Trojans Get Around Oklahoma, 8-4

USC overcame a 4-1 deficit with a five-run fifth inning and went on to beat Oklahoma, 8-4, in the Anaheim Hilton & Towers Classic Friday at Cal State Fullerton.

Wes Rachels and Jacque Jones each drove in runs with hits in the fifth, and two other runs scored on a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt. Another run scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Freshman right-hander Steve Immel (2-0) was the winner, giving up eight hits and all four runs, two earned, in seven innings. Justin Parle pitched two hitless innings in relief.

The Trojans had 14 hits against three Oklahoma pitchers. Joe Victery (2-1) was the loser. Jones and Ryan Stromsborg each had three hits for USC.

USC (9-2) meets Florida State today. Oklahoma (5-2) will play Cal State Fullerton Saturday.
