A REVIEWER’S SOUND AND FURY

Share

In his truly astonishing review of “Where White Men Fear to Tread” (Jan. 21), Bruce Olds faults Russell Means for substituting “bluster for simple communication,” giving his readers the “feeling not of being spoken to but at” and for “howitzer-to-slay-a-nit rhetorical overkill.” He’s written a review of his review!

My personal reaction was to want to discover what in the world it was that could inspire such a Pandora’s Box of verbiage. I went out and bought the book.
