Lee Mun Wah, director and producer of a documentary about race relations, will present his film, “Color of Fear,” at a March 10 seminar sponsored by the Women’s Diversity Forum of Orange County.

Seminar organizers said the goal is to provide education about cultural diversity in an effort to reduce racial conflicts, encourage effective communication between people of diverse backgrounds and promote the value of diverse perspectives.

Wah’s film examines the effects that racism has had on eight men of African, Asian, Latin American and European origins.

“I have long felt that the dialogue around racism was seldom from a multicultural approach, with each ethnicity given an equal opportunity to speak and to be represented,” said Wah, director of Stir-Fry Productions, which conducts seminars and talks nationwide.

A retired San Francisco teacher, Wah has published six books of poems and is a performing poet and storyteller.

“Color of Fear,” his second documentary, won the Gold Apple Award for the Best Social Studies Documentary for 1995 in the National Education Media Competition.

In 1993, he produced and co-directed “Stolen Ground,” a documentary about racism toward Asian Americans that won an award at the San Francisco International Film Festival.

Wah will lead the discussion and introduce his film at the forum at Western Medical Center’s Bash Auditorium, 1001 N. Tustin Ave., Santa Ana, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for the general public and $2 for students.
