Geary, Davis Lead Arizona Past Washington State

Reggie Geary scored 11 points during an early second-half run as No. 11 Arizona overcame a four-point halftime deficit to defeat Washington State, 72-62, Thursday night at Pullman, Wash.

Geary had 15 points for the Wildcats, 22-5 overall and 11-4 in the Pacific 10. The victory was Arizona’s fourth in a row and its 22nd in a row over the Cougars (14-10, 6-9). Washington State last beat Arizona in 1986.

Arizona trailed, 30-26, at halftime but went on a 21-7 run to start the second half. Geary started the run with a three-point shot and hit two more three-pointers and a layup to give the Wildcats a 47-37 lead with 12:20 to go.

Joe McLean scored six points in the final two minutes, including a key three-point basket, to seal the victory.

Ben Davis led Arizona with game highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds for his conference-leading 14th double-double this season. Corey Williams had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Mark Hendrickson, Washington State’s top rebounder, led the Cougars with 16 points but had only three rebounds.

Washington 75, Arizona State 64--The Huskies broke a 14-game losing streak against Arizona State as Todd MacCulloch had 22 points and 20 rebounds at Seattle.

MacCulloch made all 10 of his shots from the field, breaking Lars Hansen’s 21-year-old Husky record of 92.8% shooting (13 of 14), based on a minimum of 10 shots taken. Both his points and rebounds were career highs.

Bryant Boston scored 14 points and Mark Sanford had 12 for the Huskies (15-9, 8-7).

Jeremy Veal and Roger Farrington scored 16 points and Ron Riley had 14 for Arizona State (10-14, 5-10).
