Obituaries : * Herb Hesch; President of Senso-Metrics, 56

Herb Hesch, a Simi Valley resident and president of a local company that makes electronic sensing equipment, died Thursday after a brief illness. He was 56.

Hesch was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Lockport, N.Y., and moved to California with his parents, graduating from high school in Van Nuys. He then served four years in the Navy.

An electronics engineer, Hesch worked for several companies before starting at Senso-Metrics in Simi Valley about 15 years ago, family members said. He worked his way up through the company to become president, said son Paul Jonn of Mi-Wuk Village in Tuolumne County.

In his free time, Hesch enjoyed target shooting at the rifle range, Jonn said.

Other survivors include sons Mike Hesch of Reseda, Dan Hesch of Santa Clara and John Hesch of Federal Way, Wash.; mother, Eleanor M. Hesch, of Valencia; sisters Jean M. Brown of Lockport, N.Y., Esther M. Murphy of Las Vegas, Sue Ann Mapes of Palmdale and Nancy McCoy of Saugus; and eight grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley. Arrangements are being handled by the Conejo Mountain Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
