Return of ‘Star Wars’: Writer-director George Lucas announced Tuesday that he will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking movie “Star Wars” next year by bringing back the 1977 film starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. The re-release, with added footage, is scheduled for Feb. 14 by 20th Century Fox. Lucas, who made his announcement at NATO/ShoWest, the annual National Assn. of Theater Owners convention in Las Vegas, said $10 million will be spent to restore and add digital sound to the entire “Star Wars” trilogy. No release dates were announced for the two latter “Star Wars” films: “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980) and “Return of the Jedi” (1983).
