Shuttle Taking Extra Day

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. —
Space shuttle Columbia will stay in space an extra day to allow time for more experiments in near-zero gravity, NASA said Tuesday.
The latest plan calls for Columbia to land in Florida at 7:13 a.m. Friday. The experiments in microgravity are aimed at developing better semiconductors, metal alloys and space station smoke detectors.
