Michael J. Fox to Star on ‘Spin’: After a seven-year hiatus, the actor will return to television this fall as the star of a new sitcom tentatively called “Spin” on the ABC-TV network. The program, about a chief of staff for an inept deputy mayor, will be produced by DreamWorks SKG and Gary David Goldberg, who was the executive producer of Fox’s last TV sitcom, “Family Ties,” an NBC blockbuster that ran from 1982 to 1989. ABC, which has a 50-50 production venture with DreamWorks, has ordered 22 episodes of the series. Fox, who has been much sought after by the networks, is among the select TV personalities whose mere commitment to star leads to an instant network order. Fox has concentrated in recent years on films such as “Back to the Future.”
