City Fees Not Related to Businesses Increased

Share

After deciding against increases that would have affected businesses, the City Council has approved revised fees for various city services, with many of the charges going up.

The council had delayed action on the issue last month after several members objected to a proposal to raise the cost of business licenses. City staffers were instructed to revise the plan.

At this week’s council meeting, Assistant City Manager Brigitte Charles said the new fee schedule will keep business fees at the current level.

Charles said an updating of city fees is needed so they will accurately reflect the cost of services. “We go through these annually just to make sure we’re keeping up,” she said.

The revised fees include raising the car-tow fee to $171 from $158. The cost of obtaining a copy of a police photograph will go to $73, up from $69; and the cost of a building-demolition permit will rise to $113 from $107.

The changes take effect July 1.
