* Re “ ‘High-Tech Barn-Raising’ Shows Disparity of Schools,” March 6:
Your report about the disparity between affluent schools and poor schools regarding the accessibility of technology and the Internet is often true, but is not always the case. Leo Politi Elementary School’s simple purchase of a $218 modem was rejected by a Los Angeles Unified School District financial bureaucrat because she wanted more information! Well, excuse me! Hasn’t she heard about e-mail or the big push to connect 13,000 schools to the Internet?
While the district reports rosy activities to The Times and its own Board of Education, LAUSD, once again, shot itself in the foot.
