Orange Coast Losing Streak Ends

Orange Coast stopped an 11-game losing streak by beating Cypress, 1-0, in softball Wednesday at Orange Coast.

Anne Hardey (3-10), who walked three and struck out three, pitched a four-hitter for her second shutout of the year.

The Pirates (3-13, 1-5) scored in the third inning when LaNell Tucker hit a two-out single to drive in Gene Forsythe.

Cypress is 19-8, 4-1.

In nonconference golf:

Citrus 351, Orange Coast 378--Eric Barnett shot a three-over 73 to lead Orange Coast at Mesa Linda. Citrus had three golfers shoot par or better, including Bernard Cabellero’s 68.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis:

Saddleback 6, Fullerton 3--Noelle Saduddin won in singles, 6-2, 6-0, and teamed with Sandy Peters to win in doubles, 6-3, 6-4.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:

Golden West 3, Santa Barbara 0--Jeff Garlucci had 13 kills to lead Golden West, which won, 15-2, 15-8, 15-6. Golden West is 7-2.
