Pantzar Pulls Out of Assembly Race, Will Support Rems
Marjorie M. Pantzar, one of two Republican candidates challenging Assemblywoman Marilyn C. Brewer (R-Irvine) in the March 26 primary, withdrew from the race Thursday.
Pantzar, a Newport Beach resident, said she backed out of the race in the name of “conservative unity” and declared her support for Jacob F. “Jim” Rems of Irvine, the other Republican challenging Brewer for the Assembly seat in the 70th District.
She announced her decision at Rems’ campaign headquarters in Tustin.
“I just wasn’t getting the support from people I expected to get support from,” Pantzar said Thursday. “I made my decision, and now I am encouraging people to support Jim.”
Pantzar said she sent a letter to 700 of her supporters urging them to help Rems’ campaign.
The district includes Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, most of Tustin, Irvine and Laguna Beach, and parts of Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Lake Forest and Santa Ana.
