Can you sing the theme song from “Flipper?” Matthew Sweet can. He’s just recorded the song for the upcoming movie version of the ‘60s aquatic TV series. It will be on a soundtrack album along with Shaggy’s version of “In the Summertime” (different from the one on his recent album), old tracks by the Beach Boys, Tom Jones, Professor Longhair and the Heptones and an orchestral score featuring a vocal appearance by Crosby, Stills & Nash. . . .

Mark Knopfler isn’t planning to tour the U.S. in connection with his first solo album, due March 26. But he’ll be taping a live TV special in London next month that will be released as a home video. Louisiana guitarist Sonny Landreth and members of the Chieftains will be among the guest performers. . . .

With a remix of its 2-year-old song “Missing” currently the most-played single on U.S. radio, British duo Everything But the Girl has a new album due in May.
