Gingrich Won’t Seek to Be No. 2 on Dole Ticket

ROSWELL, Ga. — If there was ever any doubt, House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday that he’s not interested in being Bob Dole’s No. 2.
Gingrich, who was asked about his interest in filling the vice presidential spot on a Dole ticket, said it was “zero, none.”
He repeated his earlier suggestion that Dole should consider Michigan Gov. John Engler or California Atty. Gen. Dan Lundgren, and said retired Gen. Colin L. Powell is a possibility as well.
Gingrich responded to questions from reporters and students during a 1 1/2-hour session at a high school in Roswell, north of Atlanta.
