OXNARD — Donald Facciano, credited with stemming a tide of red ink at the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce over the last three years, announced his retirement on Wednesday.
Facciano, 60, will step down from his full-time post as chief executive officer when a new top administrator is hired. However, he plans to remain active with a part-time position that will focus on membership development.
“I accomplished what needed to be done here and now that the chamber is on solid financial ground again, I would really like to devote more time to my personal interests,” he said.
The chamber has turned a $30,000 to $40,000 debt into a $70,000 surplus during the last three years, Facciano said.
“We could not have been more pleased with the adroit way he managed the balance sheet back to health,” said Mike Montoya, past chamber president.
Facciano is a former Sears, Roebuck & Co. executive who retired as manager of the company’s Oxnard store.
