From Times Wire Reports

An Okinawan landowner demanding access to his property, and dozens of supporters marched to a U.S. military base but were turned away by hundreds of Japanese riot police. Carrying his young son on his shoulders, Shoichi Chibana led the march after filing a lawsuit in district court to evict the U.S. military from his patch of land inside a sprawling U.S. Navy communications center on the southern island. No date was set for a ruling on Chibana’s lawsuit. The lease on his 2,500-square-foot section of land expired Sunday.
