Big Bird and Co. Land at Sea World

Share

A new bird is nesting, at least temporarily--at Sea World’s Bird Showplace--and he’s one Big Bird. The “Sesame Street” hero and friends, including Bert and Ernie, the Count, Cookie Monster, Elmo, Prairie Dawn and Oscar the Grouch, are appearing in the “Big Bird and Co.’s Amazing Alphabet Parade” each day through April 14. There are lots of song and dance antics, limbo dancing and 19 floats representing letters of the alphabet in the parade, running several times each day beginning at 12:15 p.m., with the last one at 4:30 p.m. About 30 young volunteers will be chosen to participate in the parade (sign up at the guided-tour booth at the main entrance).

For an up-close and personal encounter with the “Sesame Street” gang, Sea World is hosting a breakfast Friday through Sunday (and April 12-14) from 9:30-10:30 a.m. (ages 3-11, $6.95; adults, $9.95; not included in park admission--$29.95; children $21.95). Reservations suggested for breakfast: (619) 226-3636.

Big Bird and his cohorts, who usually reside in Sesame Place, an Anheuser-Busch theme park (also the owner of Sea World) in Langhorne, Pa., are also in San Diego for Sesame Street Live’s “Let’s Play School,” at San Diego Sports Arena from April 18-21. Ticket prices to that show are $8.50, $10.50 and $14.50. Show tickets: (619) 225-9813.
