Patrik Augusta had two goals and one assist Wednesday night as the Ice Dogs strengthened their International Hockey League playoff hopes by defeating the Utah Grizzlies, 5-2.

The victory was the first in eight tries this season for the Ice Dogs over the Grizzlies and snapped a seven-game road winless streak for Los Angeles.

Dave Smith scored his fifth short-handed goal midway through the second period to put the Ice Dogs (32-31-12) ahead, 2-1, and they stayed on top the rest of the way.
