New Ad Campaign for Snapple: You could say Snapple needs to do the right thing. Quaker Oats Co., parent of the Valley Stream, N.Y.-based beverage company, has introduced an advertising blitz for the slumping beverage. Spike Lee, director of “Do the Right Thing” and “Malcolm X,” directed the first commercial spot, which shows a parade declaring Snapple’s ambition to be third. Third? Well, Snapple has been striving for a light, quirky image. The company, which has used the line “the best stuff on Earth,” realizes it is time to try something unexpected, analysts said. Snapple’s 1995 losses were between $35 million to $40 million.
