A family of five was treated for injuries Saturday after an early evening head-on collision with a car whose driver may have been alcohol-impaired, police said.

A white minivan with two parents and three young children collided with a Mercury Topaz that was driving on the wrong side of the street in the eastbound lane of Hazard Avenue near Ward Street, according to police Sgt. Frank Hauptmann.

The driver of the Topaz, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, suffered the most severe injuries while the family of five did not appear to suffer any life-threatening injuries, Hauptmann said.
