GM, Ford CEOs See Salaries Dip in 1995: General Motors Corp.’s top executive was paid $5.7 million in 1995, an 8% drop from 1994 despite record profits at the world’s largest auto maker. Ford Motor Co.’s chairman received $5.4 million in compensation, also down from 1994. However, Ford’s profit was off 22% from the previous year. GM Chairman Jack Smith’s salary remained at $1.5 million, but his bonus dropped to $1.75 million from $1.93 million because the company did not meet financial targets, according to a GM proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. GM profits in 1995 were $6.9 billion, up 40% from a year earlier. Ford Chairman Alex Trotman’s compensation was down 33% because his bonus was cut to $3 million from $6 million.
