‘Gothic’ Revisited?

Share

“Can a weekly drama about a homicidal super-heel have a future in prime time?” Maybe on Fox. Certainly not on CBS (“Will Viewers Cozy Up to Naked Ambition in Sinfully Rich ‘Profit’?,” April 8). Most of what Howard Rosenberg said about “Profit” and its protagonist (“rip-roaring, sinus-clearing bold and wonderful . . . heroically rotten protagonist”) also applied to Gary Cole’s Lucas Buck and the brilliant “American Gothic,” which ran on CBS for about 10 weeks (in two different time slots) and got the ax. “Gothic” was the most original and engaging thing on TV during its run and I was severely disappointed to see it cut; if “Profit” is successful, Fox should explore the possibility of adding “American Gothic” to its lineup.
