Two men suspected of running three methamphetamine labs were arrested at a home Thursday after investigators found equipment used to make the drug while serving an unrelated arrest warrant, police said.

Ronald S. Gomez, 35, of La Palma and Gregory C. Courdy, 26, of Cypress were booked on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine at three houses in Cypress and La Palma, Cypress Police Lt. John Schaefer said.

Investigators entered Gomez’s La Palma home in the 4700 block of Sharon Drive on Thursday afternoon to serve an arrest warrant on a drunk driving charge when they found chemicals and materials used to manufacture methamphetamine, also known as “speed” or “crank,” Schaefer said.

Further investigation led officers to the nearby home of Courdy’s girlfriend, where they found a second suspected drug lab and six pounds of methamphetamine, he said.

Courdy was arrested after arriving at the woman’s home while investigators were still there, Schaefer said. The woman’s whereabouts were unknown.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators searched Courdy’s home in the 6500 block of Grand Manan Drive in Cypress, where they found more chemicals and other materials used to cook methamphetamine, Schaefer said.

The methamphetamine seized in the raids was worth an estimated street value of $30,000 to $40,000, Schaefer said.
