Don’t Remove Oaks for Flood Control
* Regarding your article March 25 about removing oak trees in Thousand Oaks for a flood control basin: Why remove the trees? Flood control basins are for emergency overflow and usually do not have a lot of water. A very good example is the flood control basin in the San Fernando Valley. There are golf courses, riding areas for horses, parks, and streets. Once in awhile they have floods there, but most of the time the area is usable.
If there should be an excess of water on the oaks, so be it. Let the trees live or die naturally.
In the meantime, leave the trees!
