From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Kimberly Mays Twigg, the teenager who garnered national attention when she received permission to “divorce” her biological parents and live with the man who had raised her from birth, has been reported missing. The 17-year-old went out for pizza with a friend Tuesday and hasn’t been seen since, her mother told the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. She left the pizza parlor in a blue vehicle with a woman in her 20s with bleached blond hair, according to a sheriff’s report. Her mother found a note saying she just needed some time away, the report said. In 1993, Kimberly attracted national attention when she pleaded with a judge to allow her to “divorce” her parents, Regina and Ernest Twigg.
