Kaiser Permanente Says Union Rejected Offer: The health maintenance organization said that more than 10,000 union workers have rejected its final contract offer. Kaiser, which has 2.2 million members in Southern California, said the Service Employees International Union, representing 10,200 maintenance workers, clerks, vocational nurses and X-ray technicians, voted to reject the offer. Officials of SEIU Local 399 in Los Angeles were not immediately available for comment. Kaiser has asked its 26,000 employees for reductions in salary and benefits. “Even with these reductions, Kaiser Permanente remains committed to providing employees with fair wages and benefits set above market level,” the company said in a statement.
