Smartflex Systems Inc.: The Tustin provider of electronic assemblies and subassemblies said that net income for the first quarter more than doubled from the year-earlier period to $1.9 million, or 30 cents a share, from $852,000, or 20 cents a share. The gain in per-share earnings didn’t keep pace because of an increase in shares of stock outstanding. Revenue rose 67% to $40 million from $23.9 million.
