Chrysler Launches Brake Repair Campaign: The auto maker said it will repair antilock brakes on some older models that could have faulty hydraulic pumps. Such a defect could reduce braking power and allow the brakes to lock. Chrysler Corp. plans to begin notifying the owners of 350,000 1990-93 vehicles late this spring. Dealers will be equipped to test the brake systems. The program covers the United States and Canada and involves 275,000 1991-93 minivans; 67,000 1990-93 Chrysler New Yorkers, Chrysler Imperials and Dodge Dynasties; and 4,000 Eagle Premiers and Dodge Monacos from the 1991-92 model years. The company estimates that 15% of the 350,000 vehicles are actually affected. Chrysler has received reports of 60 crashes and 16 minor injuries attributable to the problem.
