The former Hughes Electronics worker accused of shooting three workers during a rampage at the company’s El Segundo plant pleaded not guilty Friday to three counts of attempted murder and other felonies.

Clad in a blue jail jumpsuit and wearing the neck brace he had on when he surrendered to police Wednesday, Walter J. Waddy, 62, of Compton was arraigned in Inglewood Municipal Court. He remains in custody on $1.5 million bail pending a May 2 hearing.

In addition to the attempted murder charges, Waddy, a 16-year employee who resigned in 1993, faces six counts of assault with a firearm, and one count each of imprisonment by violence and kidnapping. He will be represented by a public defender.
