Re “State Senator Said He Owed No Taxes Because of Race,” April 13: State Sen. Don Rogers--soon to be term-limited out of office--wants to get his ducks in a row so he can collect his state pension for his years of service in our state’s high chamber.

Seems to me he’s bound to forfeit any claim to a pension for the past four years that he has been a self-declared noncitizen of California and the United States.

Seems to me, also, that he should be indicted for perjury for falsely swearing, as any officeholder is required to swear, “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and .J.J. of the state of California” and to “bear true faith and allegiance” to the same; and that he “takes the obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion.”

And, oh yes, seems to me that any votes he cast when he was not a citizen of the U.S. or of California, and while he had perjured himself, should be forfeit and void.

We have to ask ourselves again: Is there any honor among the members of our Legislature?

* Perhaps we should be deporting Rogers, the Montana “freemen” and others who have renounced their U.S. citizenship, and let some good, hard-working foreign immigrants who would appreciate being Americans take their place in our society.
